The Light at Saga’s Gate and Lasting Love

The Light at Saga’s Gate and Lasting Love

The Light at Saga’s Gate

A fictional remembrance story set in Sweden.

Linnea lived on a small farm in Dalarna with her chestnut horse, Saga.

Saga had come into Linnea’s life during a year when everything felt uncertain. Linnea had lost her husband and found it difficult to sleep. On the longest nights, she would walk to the stable and sit quietly beside Saga.

Saga never demanded anything. She simply lowered her head and breathed softly against Linnea’s shoulder until the world felt manageable again.

For sixteen years, they greeted every Swedish season together. They rode beneath summer birch trees, crossed fields bright with autumn colour and stood beside the stable while snow settled around them.

After Saga passed away, Linnea found the dark path to the stable especially painful.

She placed a FurLunea Solar Pet Memorial Light beside Saga’s favourite gate, engraved with the words:

Saga

You carried me when my heart could not.

Each evening, the light begins to glow as darkness falls.

From her kitchen window, Linnea can see it shining beside the empty field. It does not remove the sadness, but it reminds her that the love which guided her through the darkest years is still there.
