 Canela and the Orange Trees

 Canela and the Orange Trees

Every morning, my Spanish Greyhound, Canela, waited beside our blue tiled doorway for our walk through Seville.

She always stopped beneath the orange trees, lifting her nose as the blossoms drifted onto the pavement. Even as she grew older and her steps became slower, she never wanted to miss our morning walk.

After twelve years together, I had to walk those familiar streets alone. The city looked the same, but without Canela beside me, everything felt quieter.

I chose a Personalised Granite Pet Memorial engraved with her portrait and placed it in our courtyard. Each spring, orange blossoms gather gently around the stone. Their familiar fragrance brings back our walks, her soft footsteps and the loyal companion who made every ordinary morning feel special.
